Field Day was such a success! The students had the greatest time jumping in potato sacks, having beach ball relays, running with an egg on a spoon, and jumping through tires! The students showed great sportsmanship as they cheered their fellow teammates on.

Although a little windy, the weather was great and the students loved sitting on their towels and eating their lunches. After the festivities Mr. Softee came to visit!

Perfect Presidents!

Last week we had our Presidential Presentations! The students looked awesome in their costumes and loved having the opportunity to share what they learned about their chosen president.

Alexa did a great job impersonating James Madison! Her hair looked great. Elizabeth brought in a perfect wig that made her look just like George Washington! Anthony wore a suit to present JFK while Maya was dressed head to toe in her Teddy Roosevelt outfit.

Ledgy and Shyyon looked amazing but also different as Abraham Lincoln. Alaina wore an entire costume for George Washington while Carrington made an awesome mask!
Sophia was one of two Bill Clintons and Savannah looked great as the only George W. Bush! Romeo had a great bead for Abraham Lincoln and Constantine made his own George Washington hat!

George Washington was definitely popular! Celine, Caleb, and Kyler had their own unique costume to represent him. Ivana was our only Thomas Jefferson!
David looked great as our current president Barack Obama! Daria, Nick, and Pasquale looked great as JFK, Bill Clinton, and Abraham Lincoln. The costumes were so creative!
Madelyn was our only Ronald Reagan, with curlers to match his hair! Joseph and Madison had great beards for Abraham Lincoln and Alex had the perfect George Washington jacket.

Adventures in the Solar System

We finally wrapped up our unit on the Solar System. This is by far Ms. Feeny's favorite Science unit and the students loved it as well! Students learned the order of the planets and facts about them, why there is day and night, and how to tell what time of day it is depending on a shadow.

Students played Solar System Scoot! outside in the hallway. Students read questions regarding the solar system and put answers on their recording sheets.

Students also were given a planet to research. Each pair of students researched information on their planet using their iPads. Students researched if their planet was an inner or outer planet, why their planet was named, and the average temperature. The students are becoming more efficient in using the internet to research a given topic.Ask your child about all of the things they learned about their planet!
Maya and Sophia learned that Jupiter is known for its big red spot. This is a huge storm that is three times bigger than the Earth!

Nick and Shyyon learned that Saturn is an outer planet because it is  outside of the asteroid belt. Alexa and Kyler learned that along with Mercury, Venus has no moons.

Anthony and Joseph learned that Mars is named after the Roman God of War.

Celine and Carrington learned that Saturn has bright icy rings. Madison and Savannah learned that Jupiter spins the fastest.

Daria and Ivana learned that Neptune has an average temperature of negative 345 degrees fahrenheit!
